Part Five: mouth piece!

Next, you are going to create a mouth piece that fits your puppet. You will need your foam board for this step. Start by placing the head in position so you can trace the upper and lower parts of the mouth, like so:

Draw another line 1/2 inch inside the traced line. You will then cut along the INNER line.

Fit the two pieces together, and tape on one side only.

And you have a mouth piece!

At this point, you should add the felt to the mouth piece. I didn’t remember to do this until much later, and it was harder to do it nicely.
