Part Nine: Adding fleece/fur

So, you’ve got a head and a body—now it’s time to add the covering! I’m going to show the process for adding fleece, since it’s harder. I’ll try to remember to include notes for those of you using fur instead of fleece.

First, you’re going to lay out the patterns you used for your head and body on the fleece. I don’t have the best pictures of this part! But I’ll try to explain.

What you should do—and what I should have done here—is lay out the head AND one of the side pieces of the body + the front piece folded in half. Leave about a 1 inch gap between the head and the body parts.

I hope the above diagram helps! Trace onto the “wrong” side of the fleece or fur (the side that will be facing IN.) Leave 1/2 inch extra around the outside of the paper pattern. Leave a full inch between the head and body, and below the body. Flip the paper pieces over and repeat. You should have 2 opposite patterns traced when you are done.

Now cut them out!
